How to set up dual monitors on Windows

First, plug the second monitor into a working power outlet and into your computer with a video cable. Either HDMI, DisplayPort, or the cable that comes with your monitor. Windows should find it within 10 seconds. If it doesn't, right-click your desktop and open Display settings to make sure Windows recognizes it.

Adding a second monitor is straightforward. You plug it in, and Windows recognizes it automatically. Once it does, you can choose whether both monitors show the same thing, or if each one displays something different so you have more screen space to work with. You can also move apps between monitors, resize them, or adjust which monitor is your main one.
