How to turn on fall detection on your smartwatch
Fall detection is turned on for most new smartwatches by default, but you can check and turn it on in your watch app or on the watch itself. On Apple Watch, go to the Health app on your iPhone. On Samsung and Wear OS watches, open the watch app and look for Safety or Emergency features.
Fall detection watches your movement and can tell when you've had a bad fall. If it detects a fall, it sends an alert asking if you need help. If you don't respond in 60 seconds, it calls emergency services. The setting lives in different places for your watch brand, but it only takes a few taps to turn on.
Fix-IT-Bot will walk you through each step — just tap, no typing needed.

- Looking for the setting on the watch itself instead of in the companion app on your phone
- Not setting up an emergency contact. The watch can detect falls but no one will know to help without a contact
- Not realizing that location services and good battery level are needed for fall detection to work
Signs you need professional help
- Fall detection doesn't appear in your settings after checking your watch model You've turned it on but the app shows it's not active or there are error messages
