GPS vs connected GPS on your watch. What's the difference?

Built-in GPS tracks your location on its own without your phone. Connected GPS borrows your phone's GPS signal, which means you need your phone with you for accurate distance tracking.

GPS mode uses the watch's built-in satellite receiver to track your location independently. Your phone doesn't need to be nearby. Connected GPS turns your phone's location sharing on and uses that instead of the watch's own GPS chip. Connected GPS is less accurate for workouts because it updates location less , and it only works if your phone is with you. GPS mode is more accurate for running and cycling but uses more battery.
