Your smartwatch screen won't turn on when you raise your wrist
Your watch has a motion sensor that detects when you raise your wrist. That sensor is either off or is not working properly. Go to your watch settings and look for Wake on Wrist Raise or Wrist Detection — turn it on and if it's already on, restart your watch.
Your smartwatch has a tilt sensor inside that knows when you lift your wrist up. When you raise it to look at the time, that sensor tells the screen to turn on. If this feature is turned off, or if the sensor is not working, you'll have to tap the screen to see anything. The fix is just turning the feature back on or restarting the watch.

Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Thinking the battery icon means the watch is fully charged — let it charge for a full hour even if it shows 80%
- Turning the watch upside down to test the feature — it only works when you raise it normally to your face
- Giving up after one restart — sometimes the sensor needs 5 minutes to fully wake up after a restart
Signs you need professional help
- You've turned the feature on and restarted the watch but it still won't work
- The screen is also very dim or flickering even when you tap it
- The watch has been dropped and the sensor was loose before this happened
