Smart TV update failed and won't try again
Most of the time this is just a temporary glitch. A full power cycle triggers the TV to try the update again. Unplug the TV completely for 2 minutes, plug it back in, and check Settings for the update. If the update starts this time, don't interrupt it.
TV updates can fail for simple reasons. A loose internet connection, power interruption, or just a software hiccup. Once an update fails, your TV doesn't automatically try again because it thinks it already did and something went wrong. A full power cycle clears this out and makes the TV realize it needs to try again. If that doesn't work, forcing a manual check for updates tells your TV to look for the update again.

Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Only unplugging the TV for a few seconds instead of 2 minutes. The full 2 minutes is important
- Interrupting the update while it's installing because it seems to be taking too long. Let it run until the TV restarts on its own
- Trying to update over WiFi when the connection is weak. Plug in an Ethernet cable if your TV has one
Signs you need professional help
- You've tried the full power cycle and manual update check and the update still won't start You see a specific error code and the update keeps failing at the same point The update starts but gets stuck at 50% or another number and doesn't progress
