Fire TV Stick remote stopped working and won't pair
The remote batteries are dead or the remote lost its pairing with the Fire Stick. Replace the batteries first. They're almost always the problem. If that doesn't work, restart your Fire Stick by unplugging it for 10 seconds, then press and hold the Home button on the remote for 10 seconds to re-pair it.
Fire TV Stick remotes use Bluetooth to talk to your TV, and they need fresh batteries and a working pairing to respond to your button presses. Dead batteries are the most common reason a remote stops working. Even if it looks new, batteries lose power over time. If new batteries don't fix it, unplugging the Fire Stick and re-pairing the remote will almost always sort it out.

Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Using old batteries that haven't been changed in months and expecting them to work. AA and AAA batteries only last 3-6 months with regular use
- Not waiting long enough when the Fire Stick restarts. It takes a full minute to boot, not 10 seconds
- Holding the Home button for only a few seconds instead of a full 10 seconds. The pairing won't work if you don't hold it long enough
Signs you need professional help
- You've replaced the batteries and restarted the Fire Stick but the remote still won't pair
