Dolby Atmos not working on Smart TV or soundbar
Dolby Atmos is either turned off in your settings or the TV and soundbar are not talking to each other properly. Go to Settings → Audio → Dolby Atmos and turn it on. If you see a warning about HDMI eARC, make sure you are using the HDMI port marked eARC. This fixes it for most people.
When Dolby Atmos is not working, the TV either has it disabled, your soundbar is not connected to the right HDMI port, or the streaming app is not sending Dolby Atmos content. We will enable it in settings, make sure the cables are connected to the right port, and check that your streaming service is actually playing Dolby Atmos content.
Fix-IT-Bot will walk you through each step — just tap, no typing needed.
Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Not realising the HDMI cable needs to be in the eARC port specifically. a regular HDMI port will not send Dolby Atmos
- Thinking Dolby Atmos is broken when the streaming content just does not have it. not all shows and movies include Dolby Atmos
Signs you need professional help
- If Dolby Atmos is turned on, the cable is in the eARC port, and Dolby Atmos-labeled content still is not playing with surround sound, there may be a compatibility issue between your TV and soundbar. Give us a call and we will help troubleshoot.
