On Windows: run the installer as Administrator. On Mac: allow the app in System Settings > Security & Privacy. If it still doesn't work, the software is not compatible with your OS.

Running as admin on Windows or allowing the app in Security settings on Mac solves this. Make sure you have at least 5GB of free disk space.
