The app can't find your new smart home device during setup
your computer isn't connecting to WiFi or the app can't see it yet. First, restart your computer by turning it off for 10 seconds then back on. If the app still can't find it after 2 minutes, you need to be closer to your computer with your phone during setup.
When you first set up a smart device, it needs to do three things: turn on, connect to your WiFi, and show up in the app. If any one of these fails, the app won't find it. your computer light tells you what's happening — a solid green light means it's ready, a red or flashing light means it's having trouble.

Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Standing too far away during setup — bring your phone within 10 feet of your computer and the app will find it faster
- Trying to set it up on 5GHz WiFi when 2.4GHz is available — 2.4GHz travels further and works better for setup
- Not waiting long enough for the app to search — give it at least 30 seconds of searching before trying again
Signs you need professional help
- You've restarted your computer, moved close to it, and the app still can't find it after 5 minutes — your computer is faulty
- your computer turns on but shows a red light and never changes to green — there's a hardware issue
- You've updated the app and it still won't recognize your computer — it's not compatible
