WiFi signal too weak for security camera, keeps dropping
Security cameras need strong WiFi to stay connected. Your signal is either too weak due to distance or obstacles, or the 5GHz band is on and the camera does not support it. Move the camera closer to your router or switch your camera to the 2.4GHz WiFi band, which travels through walls better. One of these fixes it for most cases.
WiFi signal problems happen when your camera is too far from your router, when walls and obstacles block the signal, or when your camera and router are not on the same WiFi band. We will strengthen the connection by either improving the WiFi signal or repositioning the camera closer to the router.
- ✓Check how far your camera is from the router. security cameras need to be 30-50 feet away maximum
- ✓Check what WiFi band your camera is on. most cameras work on 2.4GHz, not 5GHz
- ✓Check what your camera shows in the app. does it say the signal strength or status
- ✓Check if other devices in that area have strong WiFi. if they don't, the problem is your router location

- Placing the camera in an enclosed space like a lamp or corner. this blocks the signal
- Leaving the camera on 5GHz WiFi when it only supports 2.4GHz
Signs you need professional help
