Your security camera doesn't recognize the SD card
Your camera's SD card reader is probably dirty or the card isn't inserted properly. Take the card out, clean both the card and the camera's contacts with a soft dry cloth, and put it back in firmly until you hear a click. If that doesn't work, format the card in the camera itself.
Security cameras read data from SD cards through metal contacts. When the contacts are dirty or the card isn't fully inserted, the camera can't recognize it. Cleaning and reseating the card fixes most problems. If that doesn't help, the card needs to be formatted in the camera.
- ✓Check that the SD card is fully inserted into the camera. It should click and not stick out
- ✓Look at the metal contacts on the SD card. They should be shiny, not dirty or tarnished
- ✓Look at the card reader slot in the camera. Check if it looks dirty or has debris inside
- ✓Try the SD card in a computer or phone to see if it works in other devices
