Security camera night vision showing a white glow or glare

The camera's infrared light is reflecting off something close to it. Water droplets, a shiny surface, or the camera housing. Clean the lens and check if anything shiny or wet is near the camera. Adjusting the angle fixes it.

Night vision uses infrared light that bounces off objects to create an image. When that light reflects right back at the camera from water, metal, glass, or the camera housing, it creates a white glow. Cleaning the lens, repositioning the camera, or adjusting the angle solves it.

⚡ Before you start
  • Check the camera lens for water droplets, dust, or condensation. Clean it with a soft cloth
  • Look for shiny or reflective surfaces near the camera. Metal gutters, car windows, or glass panes reflect infrared light
  • Check if the camera is pointing at a wall or ceiling too close. The infrared bounces off it
  • Try tilting the camera up or down slightly. This changes the angle and can stop the reflection
