Doorbell camera two-way audio has a loud echo
Doorbell camera echo happens when the speaker is picking up its own sound. This is fixable. First mute your phone speakers or move the phone speaker away from your ears, then adjust the doorbell camera's microphone sensitivity in its app settings. This works for most echo problems.
Two-way audio works by the speaker playing your voice while the microphone listens. When the microphone picks up sound coming from the speaker, it creates an echo. Like standing between two mirrors. The speaker and microphone are too close to each other or the microphone is too sensitive. Lowering sensitivity or moving your phone speaker away solves it.

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Not realizing the phone speaker is the cause. People try to fix the doorbell instead of their phone
- Not lowering the phone volume enough. It needs to be significantly lower
- Assuming echo means the doorbell is broken when it's actually a settings issue
Signs you need professional help
- Echo is still loud after lowering phone volume and microphone sensitivity or the doorbell camera settings don't have a sensitivity option.
