Smart bulb shows the wrong color or won't change colors
Your bulb lost its WiFi connection and cannot receive color commands from the app. Turn the bulb off at the wall switch for 10 seconds, then turn it back on to reconnect. Wait 30 seconds and then test a color change in the app. This fixes it in most cases.
Smart bulbs change colors by receiving commands from your app over WiFi. When the WiFi connection drops or becomes too weak, the bulb stops listening for color commands and stays stuck on whatever color it was last set to. We will reset the connection, reconnect the bulb to WiFi, and test the color change.
- ✓Make sure you have access to the bulb and can reach the wall switch
- ✓Have the smart bulb app open on your phone or tablet
- ✓Keep your WiFi router within reasonable range of the bulb
Fix-IT-Bot will walk you through each step, just tap, no typing needed.
Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Changing the color multiple times quickly in the app without waiting for the bulb to respond. Wait 2-3 seconds between color changes to let the command go through
- Assuming the bulb is broken when really it just lost WiFi. Try a reset by turning it off and back on first
- Turning off the bulb using the app instead of the wall switch when you want to reset it. Always use the physical switch
Signs you need professional help
- You have reset the bulb multiple times and updated the firmware, but the color control still does not work. The bulb responds to on and off commands but color changes do not work at all. You see an error message in the app when trying to change colors.
