New smart home device won't connect to your hub
New smart home devices need to be in pairing mode and close to the hub when you add them. Restart your computer, put it in pairing mode, and make sure it's within 10 feet of the hub. That fixes it most of the time.
Smart home devices need to be told they're ready to connect (pairing mode) and need to be close to the hub when they first join the network. If the connection fails, it's because your computer can't reach the hub or isn't in pairing mode anymore. Restarting and trying again fixes most connection problems.
