WiFi password not working even though you know it's correct
WiFi password errors happen for three reasons: your device is typing the password wrong (such as caps lock or a typo), the router needs restarting, or your device needs to forget the network and rejoin. Try toggling caps lock off, then unplug the router for 30 seconds and plug it back in. If that doesn't work, forget the network on your device and join it again fresh.
When you see 'Incorrect Password', it means your device is typing something different than what's on your router. Maybe caps lock is on, or the password got changed, or your device saved it wrong. Your router can also get stuck and refuse new connections even though the password is right. Restart the router first, then make sure caps lock is off when you type the password. If one device won't connect but another one does, the problem is on that one device, not the router.
Fix-IT-Bot will walk you through each step — just tap, no typing needed.
Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Trying the password over and over without checking if caps lock is on. Each failed attempt wastes time, check caps lock first
- Assuming another device can't connect when it actually can. Test a different device before spending time on troubleshooting
- Not looking at the actual password on the router label. Trying to remember a 20-character password from your head is almost impossible
Signs you need professional help
- You've tried restarting the router, forgetting the network, and typing the password very carefully, and it still won't connect. The password can have been reset or the router can be broken Multiple different devices can't connect to the same WiFi network. The router can need a full factory reset
