Headset microphone not working in Microsoft Teams
Teams has its own audio settings separate from Windows. Go to Teams → Settings → Audio devices and make sure your headset microphone is selected as the input device. If it's already selected, click the test button and speak. If Teams records your voice, the issue is that Teams had the mic muted or your call had the microphone turned off.
Teams stores audio settings independently from your computer. You have your Windows microphone set correctly, but Teams is using a different device or has the microphone disabled in the app. Checking Teams' audio settings and selecting your headset as the input device fixes this. If Teams still can't hear you, the mic can be muted on the call itself, or your headset connection needs refreshing.

Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Muting the microphone on the call itself and not realizing it. Check for the red mute icon first
- Not restarting Teams after changing audio settings. The changes don't take effect until the app restarts
- Having the correct mic selected in Teams but a different one selected in Windows. Always check both places
