External hard drive not showing up on your computer
Your drive is probably working but the cable is loose or the port is dirty. Unplug it, check both ends of the cable, and try a different USB port on your computer. If it still does not show up, we will check the drive settings.
External drives sometimes fail to show up because of a loose cable, a dirty USB port, or a driver issue. Your data is almost certainly safe. We will test the connection, check the drive in your system settings, and initialize it if needed.
Fix-IT-Bot will walk you through each step — just tap, no typing needed.

- Assuming the drive is broken when really the cable just came loose. Always check the physical connection first.
- Not waiting long enough for the drive to spin up and be recognized. Give it at least 10-15 seconds after plugging it in.
