Mac won't boot into Recovery Mode

Recovery Mode may be corrupted or your Mac needs to download it fresh from Apple. Try restarting and holding Command+Option+R to download a fresh copy instead. If your Mac is very old, you may need a bootable USB drive to recover it.

Recovery Mode is a hidden partition on your Mac that lets you repair files, reinstall the OS, or restore a backup. If it won't load, the partition may be damaged or your Mac needs to download a fresh one from the internet. We'll try the network-based recovery first, then move to creating a bootable USB if needed.
