Mac battery won't charge past 80 percent
Apple turned on battery health management on newer Macs to protect your battery life. This limits charging to 80% when it detects you're plugged in most of the time. Check System Settings → General → Battery to see if Health Management is enabled.
If your Mac is plugged in all the time, your battery stays at 100% and ages faster. Apple added a feature called Battery Health Management that stops charging at 80% to slow down aging. If you want to charge to 100% for an upcoming trip, you can turn it off temporarily. If you leave it on, your battery lasts longer in the long run.
