Forgot your Mac admin password and can't install anything

If you have another admin account on your Mac, sign into that one and reset your password from there. This is the fastest solution. If you only have one account, use Recovery Mode to create a new admin account and regain control.

Your Mac will not let you do things because it does not recognize you as the admin. If another admin account exists, you can sign in there and reset your password. If not, Recovery Mode lets you create a new admin account so you regain control.
