Quick Start not working when setting up a new iPhone
Quick Start needs both phones close together, on the same WiFi, and with Bluetooth on. Turn off WiFi, turn on Bluetooth, move the phones within a few inches of each other, then turn WiFi back on. This fixes it in most cases. If it still doesn't work, restart both phones and try again.
Quick Start uses Bluetooth to find your old phone and WiFi to transfer your data between them. When either connection is weak or set up wrong, Quick Start can't find your phone. The quickest fix is making sure Bluetooth is on, both phones are close together, and they're on the same WiFi network. If restarting both phones doesn't help, there's an easy manual setup path that works just as well.

Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Turning off WiFi before Quick Start finishes. Keep WiFi on the whole time after Bluetooth connects
- Assuming your old iPhone is too old for Quick Start. Most iPhones support it, but check that your iOS is up to date
- Not waiting long enough for the phones to find each other. Give it 10-15 seconds before trying again
Signs you need professional help
- You've turned on Bluetooth, you're on the same WiFi, the phones are close together, and Quick Start still won't connect after three restart attempts. You're getting a specific error message that doesn't match any of the steps.
