AirDrop stuck on Waiting and not sending files
AirDrop is stuck because either Bluetooth and WiFi aren't connected, or the other device isn't accepting. Make sure both phones have Bluetooth and WiFi turned on, and that the receiving device has AirDrop set to accept from Contacts or Everyone. If it's still stuck, force close the Photos or Files app and try again.
AirDrop uses Bluetooth and WiFi together to send files between Apple devices. If it gets stuck on Waiting, Bluetooth or WiFi is off, the other device isn't set to receive, or there's a connection problem between the two phones. We'll check both devices and get AirDrop working again.

Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Forgetting to turn on Bluetooth or WiFi. AirDrop needs both. Just having internet WiFi connected isn't enough.
- Setting AirDrop to Receiving Off instead of Everyone. The receiving phone needs to be ready to accept
- Trying to AirDrop while standing too far apart. Stay within 30 feet and try again
- Thinking the file is lost when really it's just stuck and needs the app to be restarted
Signs you need professional help
- If you've turned on Bluetooth and WiFi on both phones, set the receiver to Everyone, and AirDrop is still stuck after a restart, give us a call and we'll check for a connection issue.
