What is phishing and how to protect yourself from email scams

Phishing is fake emails pretending to be from companies you trust, designed to steal your password or credit card. The easiest way to avoid it: never click links in emails. Instead, type the company's web address directly into your browser or call their official phone number.

Phishing scams use fake emails that look like they're from banks, Amazon, PayPal, Apple, or other trusted companies. The goal is to trick you into clicking a malicious link or entering your password on a fake website that looks identical to the real one. Once scammers have your password, they access your real account and steal money or identity information.
