Why is my internet slow?
Internet speed and WiFi strength are different things. Your internet provider controls internet speed (Mbps). WiFi strength controls how far and fast your signal travels. If everyone is slow, call your provider. If only you are slow, try moving closer to the router, or restart the router by unplugging it for 10 seconds.
Internet slowness has two main causes: your internet service provider is delivering slow speeds, or your WiFi signal is weak. Your provider controls how many megabits per second (Mbps) they deliver to your home. Your router controls how far the WiFi signal reaches and how strong it is. Walls, distance from the router, and interference from other devices weaken your WiFi. Internet speed is bottlenecked by whichever is slower: your provider's speed or your WiFi signal strength. If everyone in your house is slow, the problem is your provider. If only you are slow, the problem is usually WiFi.
