What is the difference between 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi?

2.4GHz WiFi is slower but reaches farther through walls. 5GHz WiFi is faster but doesn't reach as far. Use 5GHz when you're close to the router and need speed, use 2.4GHz in other rooms.

Your router broadcasts WiFi on two different frequencies. 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Think of them like radio stations on different channels. The 2.4GHz channel is older and slower but the signal travels farther through walls. The 5GHz channel is newer and faster but the signal doesn't reach as far.
