Console overheating and shutting down in the middle of a game

Your console is overheating because its ventilation is blocked or it's in a hot space. Turn it off now, wait 15 minutes for it to cool down, then make sure the air vents aren't covered by anything and it's not in a closed cabinet. Move it to an open shelf with space on all sides and the problem will almost certainly go away.

Consoles need air to flow around them or they overheat and automatically shut down to protect themselves. When the vents are blocked by dust, furniture, or being inside a closed space, the console can't get cool air in and hot air out. This causes it to shut down mid-game. Moving it to an open area with clear space around it and cleaning the vents fixes it completely.
