Your console is overheating because air can't flow around it freely. Move your console away from walls or other devices that are blocking the vents, make sure there's at least 4 inches of clear space on all sides, and the problem will almost certainly go away.
Consoles pull cool air in through the bottom and sides and push hot air out through the back. When a console is crammed into a tight space like a cabinet, that hot air just cycles back in and the temperature keeps climbing. Your console detects this and shuts down to protect itself. - Blocking the back vents with curtains or cables while leaving the sides open. Hot air needs a clear path to escape, not just clear sides
- Putting the console on a carpet or soft surface that blocks the bottom intake vents. Always use a hard, flat surface
- Assuming the fan noise is the problem and trying to muffle it. The fan is doing its job, clearing the blocked space is what fixes the overheating
