PoE camera not getting power from the network cable
PoE cameras get power through the network cable from a PoE switch or injector. First, check that the cable is firmly plugged in at both ends. Then test a different port on the switch or injector to see if the problem is the camera or the power source.
PoE cameras use a special network cable to deliver both internet and power at the same time — no separate power cable needed. If your camera won't turn on, the network cable isn't delivering power. This happens because the port on your PoE switch is off, the cable is loose, or the switch itself isn't getting power. Testing with a different cable and port tells you right away whether it's the camera or the switch.

Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Not pushing the network cable connector all the way in — it needs to click firmly at both ends
- Thinking the PoE switch is broken when it's actually just unplugged from the wall outlet
- Not testing with a different cable before giving up — cables wear out and stop carrying power
- Trying to power a PoE camera with a regular network injector instead of a real PoE injector
Signs you need professional help
- You've tested the camera with different cables and ports and it still won't power on
- The camera worked before but now won't power up even though the switch is on
- Multiple cameras on the same switch all stopped getting power at the same time
