Network switch port isn't working and device won't connect

A switch port that won't work is caused by a loose cable, a bad cable, a disabled port in switch settings, or a failed port. Reseat the cable firmly on both ends, test with a different cable, then check if the port is disabled in the switch.

Network switch ports are the connection points where cables plug in. When one stops working, devices get no network. The issue is almost always cable-related (loose or damaged), but sometimes the port is disabled in the switch settings or the hardware has failed.
