Audio not working in Microsoft Teams meetings
One of three things: your microphone or speaker is muted in Teams, you've selected the wrong device, or Teams doesn't have permission to use your audio. Click the microphone icon in the meeting to unmute yourself first.
Teams meetings need both a working microphone (to speak) and speakers or headphones (to hear). If either one is muted, disabled, or Teams can't access it, you'll have silence. The issue is almost always a mute button or a permission setting.
Fix-IT-Bot will walk you through each step — just tap, no typing needed.
Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Forgetting that you're muted and trying to troubleshoot permissions when just clicking the microphone icon would fix it
- Not realizing that plugging in headphones changes which device Teams is trying to use
- Checking app permissions after not restarting Teams. You need to restart Teams for new permissions to take effect
