SharePoint search not finding documents you know are there
SharePoint search is not instant. It takes 15 minutes to an hour for newly uploaded files to show up in search results. If the file has been there longer than an hour, the search index can be out of date. Try searching with just part of the file name instead of the exact name, and check if the file is in a list or library that's set to not be indexed.
SharePoint uses a search index to find files. Think of it like a table of contents that gets updated slowly. When you upload a new file, it takes time for SharePoint to add it to the search index. Sometimes files don't show up because the library is set to not be searchable, or the file name is spelled differently than you're searching for. Waiting a bit and trying a different search will find it.

Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Searching the entire tenant when you're looking for a file in a specific site. Search only returns results from the current site
- Typing the full path or file extension in the search box. SharePoint search works better with just the file name
- Assuming the file is lost when it's just not indexed yet. Wait 15 minutes and search again
