Custom column in a SharePoint list not saving your changes
Your custom column probably has a data type mismatch. You're entering text into a number field, or a date into a text field. Check what type of data the column is set to accept and enter your data in that format. If the column is set up wrong, a site owner needs to fix the column settings.
SharePoint columns are picky about what kind of data goes in them. A number column won't accept text, and a date column won't accept random words. If you enter the wrong type of data, SharePoint rejects it silently and doesn't save anything. Sometimes the column is set up with the wrong data type and needs to be fixed by a site owner.

- Typing text into a number field. Numbers columns are strict about this
- Using the wrong date format. Try different formats like mm/dd/yyyy, dd/mm/yyyy, or yyyy-mm-dd
- Typing custom answers into a choice column instead of picking from the list. Choice columns only accept predefined options
