Stylus not working on your Android tablet
A stylus stops working because of a loose connection, battery drain, or disabled settings. First, check that your stylus has battery power and charge it if needed. Then make sure stylus input is enabled in Settings.
Your tablet needs to recognize the stylus before it can respond. A drained battery, disabled input settings, or a loose connection will stop the stylus cold. We'll charge the stylus if it has a battery, enable stylus input in Settings, and make sure the tablet recognizes it as a valid input device.

Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Not charging a stylus that has a battery — assuming the stylus is broken when it just needs power
- Assuming the stylus won't work on any app when actually just one app has stylus disabled
- Not checking the nib for damage — a worn or broken nib prevents the stylus from being detected
Signs you need professional help
- The stylus is charged and paired but still doesn't respond
- Only one app recognizes the stylus but other drawing apps don't
- The stylus nib is broken or worn out and needs replacing
