Transferring data to a new Android phone isn't working
The transfer failed because WiFi dropped, your Google account wasn't signed in properly, or there's too much data to restore at once. Sign into your Google account first on the new phone, make sure WiFi is stable, then restart the setup from scratch. Google will automatically restore photos, contacts, and app data in the background.
Android transfers data through your Google account. It backs up your photos, messages, contacts, and app data automatically. When the transfer fails, it's because WiFi was unstable, you weren't signed into your Google account, or the phone ran out of storage during the restore. Signing in properly and retrying works. For messages and calls, you need to use a separate transfer tool based on where your data is stored.

Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Signing into a different Google account than the one on the old phone. Data backs up to the account you use, not to the phone itself
- Unplugging the new phone before the restore finished. Restore happens in the background over hours, not instantly
- Not giving Google 24 hours to sync everything. Some data takes time to download, especially large photo libraries
Signs you need professional help
- Get in touch if you've signed in with the correct Google account and waited 24 hours but data still hasn't appeared, if you're getting an error code when trying to restore, or if the old phone never made a backup and you don't have it anymore.
