Tap-to-pay got declined at the checkout
Most tap-to-pay declines happen because NFC is off, your payment app needs updating, or the card details in your app are out of date. Check that NFC is switched on in your phone settings, then try a different payment app. If nothing works, contact your bank. They blocked the payment for security.
Your phone talks to the payment terminal using NFC. A short-range wireless connection. When it doesn't work, NFC is off, the payment app has a problem, or your bank blocked the transaction. We'll walk you through checking each one and getting you back to paying with a tap.
Fix-IT-Bot will walk you through each step — just tap, no typing needed.
Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Thinking the problem is the payment terminal when it's your phone settings. Check NFC first
- Not realizing your card expired in the app. Physical cards and digital copies need the same expiration date
- Assuming your phone doesn't support tap-to-pay when NFC is just switched off
Signs you need professional help
- NFC is on and tap-to-pay still doesn't connect to the terminal. Your card is current but tap-to-pay keeps getting declined. Your phone doesn't have an NFC option in settings at all.
