NFC tag not scanning when you tap your phone to it
Your phone's NFC is either turned off or the NFC antenna isn't making contact. Go to Settings → Connected devices → NFC to turn it on. If it's already on, remove any metal case or thick cover from your phone. Metal blocks NFC signals and stops tapping from working.
NFC uses radio waves to communicate with tags when your phone gets close enough. If NFC is turned off, the radio is silent and tags can't be detected. If NFC is on but you have a thick case or metal protection, the signal gets blocked before it reaches the antenna. Most of the time, turning on NFC or removing the case solves it.

Skip — I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Leaving NFC off because you don't use it. Turning it off saves barely any battery
- Assuming the NFC tag is broken when actually your case is just blocking the signal
- Trying to scan an NFC tag from across the room. NFC only works when you're within a few centimeters
Signs you need professional help
- NFC is on and you've removed the case, but the phone still won't scan tags. NFC used to work but stopped suddenly and nothing has fixed it. You're getting error messages every time you try to use NFC.
