What is single sign-on and should you use it?

Single sign-on (SSO) lets you log in to multiple services using one account. Like 'Sign in with Google' or 'Sign in with Apple'. It's safe and convenient because you only need to remember one password, and the big providers (Google, Apple, Microsoft) have strong security. The trade-off is that if your main account gets compromised, everything connected to it is at risk too.

Single sign-on means using one trusted account (Google, Apple, Microsoft) to log in to other services instead of creating a separate username and password for each one. It's secure, convenient, and means fewer passwords to remember. The main risk is that your SSO account becomes a single point of failure. If someone gets into your Google account, they can access everything connected to it. That's why two-factor authentication on your SSO account is essential.
